Location: Meadows Field Airport is located 3 miles north west of Bakersfield, California.

History: The Meadows Field Airport site was acquired by the US Army during World War II as a sub base for Hammer Field in Fresno.

The site was declared surplus in 1945 and in 1946 was transferred to the Federal Public Housing Authority and then to the Kern County Union High School District.  It is now owned by Teachers Management and Investment Corporation.
